Parliament approved new FDI screening rules

The European Parliament adopted its position on new EU rules tightening screening of foreign investments in strategic sectors such as defence, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, critical raw materials, energy, transport, and financial services. This will require Member States to systematically assess security and public order risks, while also strengthening coordination at EU level and allowing scrutiny of certain intra-EU transactions where the ultimate investor is controlled from outside the EU.
