On 12 November 2025, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP) and the European Enterprise Alliance (EEA) organised an event at the European Parliament titled “European Defence at the Frontier: Unmanned Systems and Strategic Readiness”. The event was hosted by MEP Kosma Złotowski, MEP Rasa Juknevičienė, and MEP Michał Dworczyk. MEP Reinis Pozņaks delivered the keynote address, while MEP Pekka Toveri, representatives from various EU institutions, policy experts, and leaders of industry were also in attendance.

The discussion revolved around the role of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-UAS technologies in the future of Europe’s defence policy. The speakers considered both the threats these pose to Europe on the one hand, and the opportunities they present for bolstering European security on the other. Particular consideration was shown for the capacities of established companies in meeting these demands, what more the industry needs to enable the uptake and production of UAS technologies, and the role EU-level policies can play in facilitating this.
