About the Roundtable
The roundtable on the Future of the Single Market for Services in the EU will provide an opportunity to discuss the findings and recommendations from our recent report, which reveals that services have lagged far behind goods within an interpretation of a single market. Despite the substantial progress accomplished in other fields, there has been a lower level of integration achieved for services trade which resulted in slower economic growth and fewer employment opportunities making the EU less competitive. Overall, the discussion will focus on concrete measures to streamline regulatory facilitation; licensing conditions, and enforcement mechanisms so that services under Single Market for Services may reach their full potential. There will be an opportunity to address the regulatory barriers and protectionist measures that continue to hinder the free movement of services across the EU, a critical issue for the region’s economic integration and growth and it is crucial to address the critical angle to unlock the full potential of services trade within the EU, contributing to sustainable economic growth, job creation, and enhanced competitiveness.
