On 13 May 2025, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP), in partnership with SME Connect and the European Enterprise Alliance (EEA), held a high-level working breakfast at the European Parliament titled “Growing the Future: Sustainable Agrifood in Europe.” The event was hosted by MEP Herbert Dorfmann and attended by MEP Carmen Crespo Diaz, representatives from the European Commission, and the agri-food business community. The discussion addressed the alignment of national and EU-level agricultural frameworks with sustainability and food security objectives, in light of growing global demand, climate challenges, and regulatory complexity. Participants explored the impact of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reforms, the role of innovation in sustainable farming, and investment requirements for the transition toward climate-resilient agrifood systems.

Key interventions highlighted the importance of targeted support for farmers, risk management tools, technology adoption, and cross-border cooperation to foster a competitive, secure, and sustainable European food sector.
