Opinion: the crucial role of committees in the European Parliament for Members

European Enterprise Alliance and the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP) present their opinion on the critical importance of committee memberships in shaping EU policies.

Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP) presents the report titled ‘’Underrepresentation of CEE Region in the EU Institutions’’. The European Union (EU) faces a longstanding challenge of ensuring representation that reflects its diverse makeup. Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), with its historical richness and economic growth, stands as a crucial part of this narrative. However, the persistent underrepresentation of CEE nations in top EU institutions is a pressing issue. Despite CEE’s growing importance, particularly highlighted by events like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the lack of representation hampers the region’s ability to advocate effectively and shape EU policies. This report delves into the complexities behind this underrepresentation, examining historical legacies and systemic biases that perpetuate the imbalance. To read the full report, click here.
